Warriors kneel to fire and steel
In this madness of war
Floating within the visions unseen
Like never before
An eye for an eye, to fight and to die
To rule the kingdoms destroyed
Falling apart my valiant heart
Trapped in the void
Devastation, despair and strife
In this world of the dark
Turning the tide again side by side
We fight to survive
Too many screams, too many dreams
Dwelling long in my mind
Hear my pray the blood of today
In the wake of the night
Where are the prophets for me to predict
When it comes to an end?
Rainfalls washed down their cloaks and their bones
With stones and sand
Where are the kings of a thousand worlds
Arrogant barons and lords?
Their armor's corroding in far away fields
Chopped by hundreds of swords
Cities abandoned, ruins and plague
That's all I can see
What lies ahead obscure and dead
It's my destiny
I am the damned doomed to ascend
To the frozen starlight
Hear my call once and for all
In the wake of the night
Soon, brothers, we shall arrive
To the shores of sunrise
The wind will embrace our shame and disgrace
Our fears and lies
And then we'll forget nothing
Lives ruined and virtues denied
Now it's our turn to fall and to burn
In the wake of the night

What an ambitious album - and to think it’s a debut album too. Sojourner have found an excellent way to create atmospheric black metal with significant folk contributions. Truly epic stuff. Somehow they just keep getting better with each release too. If you like this you’ll love the rest of their discography. 8/10 RJ

When you enter the blue hell, you are frozen, unable to get out. That ability that this album has to catch you and not let you go is what I applaud the most about this band. One more life experience, but an ordinary experience, an atmospheric and depressing journey, difficult to forget. Frank Román
Even in its prettiest, most celestial moments, the South Dakota trio's sound feels dark and dense and deeply rooted. Bandcamp Album of the Day Aug 24, 2021
